The lower bolt is just as difficult to see when laying on your back under the car. It didn't require a ridiculous amount of force to move the bolt. You will have to feel the socket onto the bolt head with your left hand - and then hold it there while cranking down on the wrench handle. It also has a bit of flexibilty (like using wobble bars) to get to the bolt heads.
This assembly will put your wrench just in the space vacated by the alternator. You need that 1/4' extension as the 3/8' is just a little too big in diameter to fit behind the solenoid. I then transitioned to a 12' long 3/8' extension. I had the E16 socket attached to a 1/4', 6' long extension. The bolt heads are E16 Torx - male - like many of the fasteners on this car. This will give you space to actually move your ratchet and set up enough leverage to move the bolts. Take off the front passenger wheel and remove the alternator.
I'm not sure how any normal human could do this from above the starter. I did all the work under the car - despite the official shop manual's instructions to do part of the work above. I'm sharing my method here in the event anyone searches the forum for the same issue in the future.
